Baptism

Baptisms can be arranged at our Sunday Mass or private. Parents are asked to visit the Friary prior to the birth of their child to make specific arrangement. Baptism preparation classes are held for both the parents and godparents on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm in the St. Clare meeting room in the lower church.

The Sacrament of Baptism is the first of our seven sacraments. It is through Baptism that the stain of original sin, and any other sin, is wiped away and we become new members of the Body of Christ and the Catholic Church. We extend a special welcome to you if you are trying to find out more about Baptism for yourself, or for your child.

If you are an adult who is seeking more information on how to become a member of the Catholic Church, please refer to The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a journey to a deeper experience of God’s love manifested through the teachings and treasures of the Catholic faith. We welcome anyone who wants to learn more about the Catholic faith and become Catholic, as well as, Catholic adults who have not received the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. A person’s faith journey always begins with God’s initiation, at God’s invitation. God’s presence can feel like a knocking door, a curiosity, a sense of wonder, a longing for healing and inner peace. Contact: Deacon Tom Page 718-639-0212, tpage@diobrook.org
